The Radar is the Carnivalist’s editorial arm dedicated to expanding the tradition of storytelling within mas and carnivals.

Through our coverage, we are interested in exploring Caribbean carnivals in the region and its diaspora. Informed by a voice that is sharp, researched and provides an informed analysis on carnival’s evolution, while always carrying the history of these traditions in tow, The Radar keeps our app’s users more culturally informed about the places they intend to play mas in.

Guided by a lens that is hyperlocal while still making relevant global connections, we are interested in exploring and uncovering the human stories behind mas: we want to know more about the ancestors and figures of the past who have played a role in taking carnival to newheights as much as we want to know about the ways people are continuing to innovate mas and mas-making.
